The UNIMED WEEK IN BRUSSELS is an opportunity for a political reflection about the role of the European Parliament and the European Union in the Mediterranean region, involving the Euro-Mediterranean academic and research communities. It provides a pause for the evaluation of regional policies, through a rich set of multidisciplinary and diversified perspectives. The event will be held from the March 15-17, 2016.
During the UNIMED week, the 16th march during the meeting organised with the DG RTG, in the session An Example of EU-MED STI Cooperation will be presented the new R2I Alliance QUINTUPLE HELIX APPROACH TO TARGETED OPEN INNOVATION IN ENERGY, WATER, AGRICULTURE IN THE SOUTH MEDITERRANEAN NEIGHBORHOOD - 5TOI_4EWAS.
The project that will start in the next months aims to enhance Water-Energy-Food Nexus approach (Energy, Water, Food/Agriculture) thought a balanced innovation-friendly ecosystem in the Southern Mediterranean Neighborhood based on the quintuple helix approach and smart specialization strategies to support EU-MPC regional development through analysis of societal challenges identified in the energy, water and food/agriculture sectors.
The future project is made up of the existing R2I project: FP4BATIW, ETRERA_2020, CINEA, MAGHRENOV, MARE & MENFRI and it will involve more than 16 countries belong EU and MPC.
